Echo Ridge Coffee Powder Recipe

Written by: Dr. Frannie Koe, MD, MPH

I always try to eat a wide variety of plants every day to reap the nutritional benefits, especially for my digestive system and gut. But fitting so many plants and herbs into my diet daily can sometimes be a challenge. To make it easier, I have created a delicious mix of herb and spice powders (these count as plant foods!) that I add to my coffee every morning. I named the powder Echo Ridge Coffee Powder, after my farm here in Collinsville, AL.

The following recipe I created includes spices like turmeric, ginger, cardamom and cinnamon, several types of mushrooms, and other spices and plant powders that are especially beneficial to our immune system and gut microbiota. I include cocoa powder, not only for its nutritional benefits, but because the delicious flavor transforms my coffee into a morning delight! Cocoa powder has been known to help reduce inflammation because it is rich in theobromine, as well as other phytonutrients. I also have added this powder to a homemade seed cereal that I enjoy for breakfast sometimes. You can find the cereal substitute and other ideas under Breakfast Recipes here on AgroshareMD.

This coffee powder makes a wonderful homemade gift. I often bring small mason jars of the premixed powder to give as hostess gifts when I am visiting friends and family. Also, jars of Echo Ridge Coffee Powder are frequently among the door prizes I give away at my classes, Reboot Your Health: Medicine 3.0, and they are always a favorite treat. If you try making this beverage mix powder at home, we’d love to know what you think!

Recipe:

One 3.2 oz can of Golden Milk Powder

One 2.12 oz can or packet of Four Sigmatic Protect Mushroom blend

Two 40 oz. packages Masala Chai powdered spice blend

One-half of a 2 lb. bag of Organic Cocoa powder

Mix all the ingredients together carefully with a whisk. Store in a lidded glass jar (half-gallon or larger). To prepare, add a lightly heaping teaspoon of powder to a 16 oz cup of coffee and stir well to enjoy.
